Chang Han-na has officially taken the helm as President and CEO of the prestigious Seoul Arts Center, following her appointment by Culture Minister Chae Hwi-young. Her new leadership role at the major state-run cultural institution was announced earlier this month by the culture ministry.
“I possess a clear vision for the Seoul Arts Center, understanding its vital role in upholding its founding spirit and determining its future direction,” Chang Han-na stated to reporters after the official appointment ceremony.
Leveraging her extensive 32 years of international performing and travel experience, Chang pledged, “I am committed to realizing this vision for the institution. Although a three-year term may seem brief, I believe it’s ample time to establish a solid foundation for this vision to come to fruition.”
She further emphasized her commitment to fostering strong relationships with staff, actively listening to their concerns, and working tirelessly to strengthen the iconic Seoul Arts Center – a place where she herself first performed at the tender age of nine.
This celebrated musician made her international debut as a prodigious cellist at just 11 years old, famously winning the Grand Prix at the prestigious 1994 Rostropovich International Cello Competition in Paris. Her distinguished career has since blossomed into a multifaceted role, encompassing her talents as a world-renowned cellist, an accomplished conductor, and an innovative artistic director.
