Posco Group Chairman Chang In-hwa recently attended the World Steel Association’s regular meeting in Berlin, emphasizing the critical need for global collaboration to drive decarbonization across the steel industry.
As a vital platform for industry collaboration, the World Steel Association unites 157 steelmakers, regional bodies, and research institutes globally.
During the executive committee meeting, the association’s principal decision-making body, Chairman Chang proudly represented Korea. He engaged with leaders from leading global steel giants, such as China Baowu Steel, Japan’s Nippon Steel, and India’s JSW Steel, to address the pressing global energy crisis and shared decarbonization challenges.
“For the global steel industry to successfully achieve decarbonization and ensure the fair market valuation of low-carbon steel, robust cooperation among all global players is absolutely essential,” stated Chairman Chang. He further outlined Posco Group’s ambitious decarbonization roadmap during his address.
Capitalizing on the event, Chairman Chang also conducted separate strategic meetings with JSW Group CEO Sajjan Jindal and HBIS Group CEO Liu Jian. These discussions focused on exploring potential partnership opportunities and addressing crucial industry topics, including overseas investment strategies and enhancing supply chain stability.
The following day marked a significant achievement as Chairman Chang accepted the prestigious “Sustainability Champion” plaque on behalf of Posco Group. This coveted award recognizes companies at the forefront of sustainable development within the industry. Posco Group’s consistent excellence is highlighted by this being its fifth consecutive year earning this recognition, firmly solidifying its distinguished global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standing.
