SK hynix has initiated a new recruitment drive for vital production roles, driven by strong expectations for substantial employee bonuses amidst the flourishing semiconductor upcycle.
According to reliable industry sources on Tuesday, the leading chipmaker has officially posted openings for essential maintenance engineers and skilled operators on its dedicated recruitment website. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline of April 22.
Maintenance positions encompass critical equipment upkeep and efficient line operations, ensuring seamless production flow. Meanwhile, operators will focus on rigorous quality testing and precise defect inspection within the advanced semiconductor production environment.
Eligibility for these specialized production roles requires applicants to be high school or junior college graduates, including those projected to graduate in August. Importantly, candidates holding bachelor’s degrees or higher qualifications are not eligible for these specific positions.
New hires will be strategically assigned to SK hynix’s key production bases across Korea, including Icheon and Yongin in Gyeonggi Province, as well as Cheongju in North Chungcheong Province. These assignments will cover facilities such as the cutting-edge M15X DRAM plant currently under construction and the ambitious, planned Yongin semiconductor cluster.
This significant hiring push coincides with soaring earnings expectations for SK hynix. Leading brokerages project the company could achieve an unprecedented operating profit of up to 250 trillion won this year, primarily fueled by the robust and growing demand for advanced AI memory chips.
Under a long-standing labor-management agreement, SK hynix dedicates a substantial 10 percent of its annual operating profit to a performance-sharing bonus pool, directly benefiting its dedicated workforce.
Should these impressive projections materialize, the average performance bonus could potentially reach an astounding 700 million won (approximately $510,000 USD) per employee before tax, calculated across its dedicated workforce of roughly 35,000 individuals.
The highly attractive prospect of these massive payouts has significantly amplified interest in SK hynix’s production jobs, solidifying their reputation as some of the most sought-after and rewarding career opportunities within Korea’s competitive manufacturing sector.
