Seoul, South Korea – Daiso, the nation’s beloved discount retail chain operated by Asung Daiso, achieved a significant milestone last year, surpassing 4 trillion won ($3 billion) in annual sales for the first time. This unprecedented growth was primarily driven by a surge in demand for budget-friendly products amidst persistent inflation, highlighting consumers’ shift towards value-conscious shopping.
The South Korean retailer officially reported an impressive 4.53 trillion won in total revenue and a robust 442.4 billion won in operating profit for the past year, marking a substantial increase of 13.4 percent and 19.2 percent, respectively, compared to the previous year’s figures.
This remarkable financial performance was significantly boosted by Daiso’s strategic expansion into diverse product categories. Expanded offerings in cosmetics, fashion, and health supplements proved particularly popular among South Korean consumers, contributing substantially to the sales surge. Additionally, well-received seasonal collections, including summer cooling products and festive Christmas items, further captivated shoppers, demonstrating the chain’s ability to cater to evolving market trends.
Looking ahead, Asung Daiso affirmed its commitment to sustained growth. “Asung Daiso will continue to expand its store network and logistics system to ensure a stable supply of fixed-price products,” the company stated, emphasizing its dedication to accessibility and consistent product availability for its value-seeking customers.
